Communication Support Assistant (BSL)

We're working with schools in Sunderland that are looking to appoint a full‑time Communication Support Assistant with BSL skills for a September start.

This is a fantastic opportunity to support pupils with hearing impairments and communication needs, helping them access education in a positive and inclusive learning environment.

We're looking for a compassionate and motivated individual who is committed to supporting pupils both academically and socially.

• Providing communication support through British Sign Language
• Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
• Assisting with classroom learning and differentiated activities
• Encouraging positive participation and engagement in lessons
• Supporting pupils' confidence, wellbeing and independence
• Working alongside teaching and support staff to achieve positive outcomes

• BSL qualification or practical signing experience
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Experience supporting children or young people is advantageous
• A positive, adaptable and supportive attitude
• A passion for inclusive education
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

• Weekly PAYE pay
• Full‑time position from September

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
