Employer Engagement & Alternative Provision Teacher (Careers Teacher)
Job Type: Full-time, Monday to Friday
Location: Sunderland
Pay: Negotiable, dependent on experience, qualifications, and role responsibilities.
We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist education provider for an Employer Engagement & Alternative Provision Teacher (Careers Teacher) to support young people in developing the skills, confidence, and career pathways needed to achieve positive outcomes. This role requires an enthusiastic and motivated professional passionate about education, employability, and helping students engage with meaningful learning and future career opportunities. The successful candidate will work closely with students, employers, training providers, and external partners to deliver high‑quality careers education and alternative provision programmes.
Responsibilities- Deliver engaging careers education and employability sessions.
- Support students in identifying and achieving their career aspirations.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local employers, training providers, and community partners.
- Coordinate work experience, employer encounters, and vocational opportunities.
- Support students accessing alternative provision programmes.
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records.
- Contribute to the development of individual learning and progression plans.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification.
- Experience working with young people in education, alternative provision, or employability settings.
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
- Ability to engage and motivate students with diverse needs and backgrounds.
- Understanding of careers guidance, employability skills, and post‑16 pathways.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
- Experience of employer engagement or partnership working.
- Knowledge of Gatsby Benchmarks and careers education frameworks.
- Experience supporting students with SEND, SEMH, or at risk of disengagement.
