Maths Teacher – SEMH School | Newcastle | Full‑Time

Job Type: Full‑time, Monday to Friday

Location: Sunderland

Pay: Negotiable and dependent on experience, qualifications and responsibilities of the role.

We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) School in Newcastle for a dedicated and resilient Maths Teacher to join their team on a full‑time basis. This rewarding role is ideal for a teacher who is passionate about supporting young people with SEMH and helping students overcome barriers to learning. You will be responsible for delivering engaging Maths lessons while fostering positive relationships and creating a safe, supportive learning environment.

Role
  • Deliver Maths lessons to students with SEMH needs.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learning requirements.
  • Manage behaviour positively and effectively.
  • Monitor, assess and report on student progress.
  • Work collaboratively with support staff, senior leaders and external professionals.
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
  • Experience teaching Maths within a UK school setting.
  • Strong behaviour management and classroom engagement skills.
  • Patient, resilient and empathetic approach.
  • Experience working with SEMH, SEND or challenging behaviour is desirable but not essential.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
