About the Role

We invite applications from enthusiastic and inspirational individuals to join our expanding Construction Team at Sunderland College. The role is ideal for qualified electricians, including those new to teaching, who are passionate about developing the next generation of industry professionals. Whether you already have teaching experience or are an experienced electrician looking for a rewarding career change, full support, mentoring and professional development will be provided to help you thrive in the role.

You will deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment up to Level 3, support learners’ academic and personal progress, and build positive relationships with parents, employers and industry partners. The position offers significant potential for further development and expansion across the electrical installation curriculum.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, deliver, monitor and evaluate high‑quality teaching, learning and assessment from Level 1 to Level 3 Electrical Installation.
  • Take responsibility for recruitment, retention, progress and achievement of students within your programmes.
  • Contribute to curriculum planning, internal and external quality assurance processes, and programme performance reviews.
  • Provide high‑quality academic and pastoral support, including tracking, monitoring and targeted intervention where required.
  • Build and maintain strong employer links to support work experience, site visits and positive learner destinations.
  • Support marketing and recruitment activities such as open events, school visits and applicant interviews.

Professional Development

You will receive mentoring and induction support, structured training to achieve teaching qualifications, and opportunities for CPD in electrical installation, teaching and assessment. The role includes support for GPA training over the first two years, with reduced teaching load in the first year to facilitate qualification completion.
