Overview

Prospero Teaching is looking for a passionate, proactive and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to support pupils in a primary school in Sunderland on a full-time basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to build positive relationships with pupils and have a long-term, positive impact on their learning and development.

Responsibilities
  • Support pupils with varied Special Educational Needs (SEN) and challenging behaviour on a 1:1 basis and in small groups. SEN types may include ASD, ADHD, SEMH, MLD and PMLD.
  • Deliver intervention sessions to small groups to boost understanding and progress.
  • Develop understanding of different needs and learning styles, working closely with Class Teachers and colleagues to tailor support.
  • Provide support across the school at break times and lunchtimes as required.

The role is based in an inspirational primary school in Sunderland with opportunities to support pupils across Year 2 to Year 6. The school has an supportive culture and Leadership Team dedicated to high standards of pupil support.

Pay, Hours and Contract
  • Pay: £88–£110 per day
  • Hours:

    Regular full-time hours

    Full-time until December 2026 (temporary contract)

Experience / Qualifications and Requirements
  • A Supporting Teaching and Learning or Childcare-based qualification (desirable)
  • Experience of working with children in UK schools
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Resilient, proactive and positive in outlook
  • Right to work in the UK
  • DBS certificate (enhanced) with online update service or willingness to obtain
  • Provide two professional references covering the last two years
