About the College
Sunderland College has been delivering highly successful courses for more than 20 years and is one of the largest providers of post‑16 education in the North East with approximately 14,300 students.
The College has two campuses across the city of Sunderland, offering a wide range of academic and vocational provision for school leavers and adults. Taking Teaching Further & Additional IncentivesIf you're making the move into further education teaching, you may be eligible for the Taking Teaching Further (TTF) programme a funded route to help industry professionals retrain as FE teachers.
In addition, for roles in high‑need subjects or regions you may also benefit from the government's targeted retention incentive (formerly levelling‑up premium ) payments, worth up to £6,000 for eligible teachers in their first five years and teaching certain shortage subjects.
Please note eligibility for both TTF and the Targeted Retention Incentive varies by role, subject area and provider, they do not apply to every vacancy.

Are you passionate about empowering young people to thrive as they transition into and through college? We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate progress and development tutor to join our supportive team at our industry standard City and HICSA campus. As a change maker in this role, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of our students.
As technical skill based campus, we are dedicated to providing high‑quality education and training in a variety of vocationally technical subjects, including hairdressing, beauty therapy, barbering, construction, plumbing, carpentry and joinery and electrical installation. In this role you will play a crucial part in supporting our students' progress and personal development, enabling them to achieve their full potential.
We are seeking authentic individuals who will foster open and honest communication within the team. We strive for excellence in all we do, so we seek individuals who are passionate about continuous learning and delivering education to the highest standards. We value and show respect to our colleagues and students in everything we do. A s a key part of the role, you will provide assertive and proactive personal support to students, helping to ensure high levels of attendance, punctuality, retention, and academic progress-particularly in core areas such as English and maths.
You'll work closely with teaching teams, support staff, parents, and students themselves to create a supportive environment where every learner can flourish and achieve their personal goals. With responsibility for a specific caseload, you will coach students individually and in groups, setting meaningful targets, implementing timely interventions, and using tools such as eILP (Pro Monitor) to track and monitor progress.
