We are inviting Expressions of Interest from passionate and skilled individuals interested in joining our Outstanding Construction & Building Services team at Sunderland College OR Northumberland College as a Lecturer & Programme Lead in Plumbing.

You don't need to be a qualified teacher to get started.

If you have relevant Plumbing or Construction industry experience, we can support your transition into education with:

  • Funded teaching qualifications and training
  • Assessor qualification opportunities
  • Ongoing CPD and professional development
  • Mentoring and support from experienced colleagues
  • Clear progression opportunities into curriculum leadership and management

You may also be eligible for:

  • Taking Teaching Further (TTF), funded support to retrain as an FE teacher
    - Taking Teaching Further
  • Government Targeted Retention Incentive payments, worth up to £6,000 for eligible teaching roles and subject areas

Who We're Looking For

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • Industry experience in Plumbing or Construction (minimum two years)
  • A Level 3 qualification in a relevant trade area
  • A passion for sharing your expertise and supporting learners

    Strong communication and organisational skills
  • A commitment to delivering high standards

Teaching experience is welcomed, but not essential, if you bring the industry knowledge,
we'll support you with the rest
