We are currently recruiting for a full-time Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive primary school in Sunderland.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children and wants to make a real difference to their learning and progress.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work across Years 1-6, providing targeted support to children in small groups and helping them to build confidence and develop their skills.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting small groups of pupils across Years 1-6.
  • Delivering catch-up activities to help children close gaps in their learning.
  • Supporting targeted children through interventions in areas such as literacy and numeracy.
  • Working alongside class teachers to identify and support pupils who require additional help.
  • Helping children develop confidence, independence and positive attitudes towards learning.
  • Providing encouragement and creating a positive, engaging learning environment.
  • Supporting the wider classroom when required.
About You

The school is looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about working with children and supporting their education.
  • Patient, caring and approachable.
  • Confident working with children of different ages and abilities.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a school team.
  • Reliable, enthusiastic and committed to helping children succeed.
  • No formal qualifications are required, although a Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable.
  • Previous experience working with children in a school or educational setting is necessary.
