A welcoming two-form-entry primary school in Harrow is seeking a caring and organised Welfare Assistant for a long-term maternity cover contract. - Provide first aid to pupils, staff and visitors, including responding to medical emergencies
- Manage the welfare room and support sick, injured or distressed pupils
- Record accidents and medical incidents using Medical Tracker
- Maintain medical records, care plans and consent documentation
- Manage pupil medication, inhalers, Epi Pens and expiry dates
- Liaise with parents, healthcare professionals and school staff
- Coordinate immunisations, vaccinations and health checks
- Maintain first-aid supplies, equipment and school first-aid kits
- Prepare medical information and resources for school trips
- Report safeguarding concerns in line with school procedures
- Support the school office and reception team when required
- Previous experience as a Welfare Assistant or in a similar medical, pastoral or school-based role
- A current Paediatric First Aid Training and Certificate
- A caring, empathetic and approachable manner
- Excellent communication, organisation and record-keeping skills
- Ability to remain calm when dealing with illness, injury or emergencies
- A strong understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
