We are seeking an experienced Site Engineer to support engineering and construction activities on a recycling operational site in Sunderland. The successful candidate will oversee day‑to‑day site operations, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with project specifications and programme requirements.

• Setting out and supervising site works.
• Coordinating subcontractors and site activities.
• Ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
• Carrying out site inspections and quality checks.
• Reviewing drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Maintaining accurate site records and progress reports.
• Supporting permit systems and operational site procedures.
• Monitoring progress against programme and reporting issues to management.
• Assisting with commissioning and handover activities.
• Liaising with project managers, client representatives, and operational staff.

• Proven experience as a Site Engineer on industrial, utilities, energy, or civil engineering projects.
• Experience working on live operational or process sites preferred.
• Strong understanding of health & safety regulations and CDM requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• CSCS Card essential.
• SMSTS or SSSTS preferred.
• First Aid qualification desirable.
• Proficient with setting out equipment and reporting systems.

• Waste management, recycling, or energy‑from‑waste sector experience.
• Permit‑to‑work systems.
• Temporary works coordination knowledge.
• Mechanical or civil background.

• Monday to Friday.
• Possible weekend work depending on project requirements.
• Immediate start available.
