Overview

Job Summary Are you an enthusiastic team player with excellent interpersonal communication skills looking to develop your skills within safeguarding? If so, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and experienced nurse, AHP or Social Worker to join our safeguarding team as a Safeguarding Nurse/Safeguarding Officer. You will work 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday. This is a varied and rewarding role for hard-working individuals who can demonstrate passion and commitment to safeguarding.

You will assist the Named Nurse Saf safeguarding Adults to deliver proactive safeguarding services, ensuring that all adults at risk of harm are effectively safeguarded. You will need to be flexible and able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of safeguarding issues within a busy acute hospital, community setting and the wider health economy. You will be required to work across all sites, working closely with the Safeguarding Childrens Advisors to promote a culture of Think family.

Responsibilities
  • Hold a supportive role in promoting good professional safeguarding practice within the Safeguarding Team at STSFT.
  • Be a highly visible Safeguarding Nurse / Safeguarding Officer and support the Safeguarding Advisor and Named Nurse Safeguarding Adults in providing advice and support regarding safeguarding within the Trust.
  • Support the Safeguarding Advisor in ensuring all staff have access to safeguarding training and supervision appropriate to their role, enabling the organisation to fulfil its statutory responsibilities for training.
  • Support with collection and collating of audit data.
  • Support and facilitate safeguarding group supervision for staff.
  • Support the Safeguarding Advisor / Named Nurses and other team members with statutory, voluntary, and healthcare agencies groups such as MAPPA, MARAC, Prevent and MSET / PREM, and attendance at local meetings.
  • Support the MCA/DoLS Advisor with Mental Capacity Assessment (MCA) and Deprivation of Liberty (DoLS) advice and support to STSFT staff.
  • To comply with the trusts vision, values and behavioural compact.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Current NMC registration (Level 1 adult nurse, children, mental health, Learning Disability) or HCPC registration (AHP) or Social Work England (Social Worker).
  • Degree in nursing studies or health / social care related subject or evidence of currently working towards this (UK equivalent).
  • Evidence of further study in safeguarding adults and children.
  • Mentor certificate/Practice Assessor training / PEAP certificate or demonstrable equivalent experience.
  • Car driver with access to a car.

Desirable

  • Management and leadership training.
  • Safeguarding supervision course.
  • Research skills.
  • Counselling and appraisal skills.
Experience

Essential

  • Relevant post registration experience of working with adults, children and families adopting a Think family approach, including participation in adult safeguarding procedures.
  • Experience in practice development and quality improvement.
  • Experience of change management and innovation in practice.
  • Experience in managing own workload and developing others.

Desirable

  • Demonstrable experience of working within a safeguarding role or transferable experience within the acute / community setting.
  • Participation in safeguarding supervision.
