Consultant Paediatrician - Community Child Health

Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Paediatrician in Community Child Health with special interest in Neurodisability. The post offers 10 programmed activities. South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit a motivated and passionate consultant paediatrician. The post is a substantive post; less than full-time applications would also be welcomed.

The community paediatric department provides population-based services across South Tyneside and Sunderland and works closely with multidisciplinary teams, special schools and health centres to bring services to the community. Applicants will be expected to have, or to obtain within 6 months of interview, a CCT in Paediatrics. Enquiries or arrangements for a preliminary visit are welcome. duties of the job

Our community child health and disability teams run a wide range of comprehensive services supporting the care of children in the following areas: child development, looked after children, vulnerable children, adoption and fostering, safeguarding. It is therefore likely that the successful applicant could have a variety of developed or developing skill sets and find a fulfilling role within our department. This post will have a key focus on the cared for child and on Neurodisability.

The department has a strong commitment to service development and teaching; applicants with shared enthusiasm for these areas are encouraged. Our team has a broad range of expertise. The post holder would contribute to the acute child protection rota and there are opportunities to participate in the acute general paediatric rota if this is an area of interest. The post holder will take a lead role to be agreed upon appointment, depending on interests and expertise.

The postholder will join the existing team of community child health and neurodisability paediatric consultants as well as the wider community paediatric team including specialist nurses, Care for Health Team, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists and occupational therapists.
