Placement Supervisor Sunderland University

Building on our successful relationship with Sunderland university weare expanding our placements to a cohort of year 3 and a cohort of year 4students at both UHND and DMH. We are looking for pharmacists with a desire to guide and inspire tomorrows pharmacists to act as placement facilitators.

Opportunities for this role are available at both UHND and DMH. You will provide classroom teaching and feedback and working with pharmacist colleagues will coordinate ward placements.

Main duties of the job

To be a point of contact forstaff at Sunderland University School of Pharmacy

To be a point of contact for students at Sunderland University assigned to placements at CDDFT.

To provide classroom based orientation and teaching as specified by Sunderland University

To coordinate placements onwards at CDDFT and ensure that colleagues are aware and are engaging with the objectives and activities set for the students

To inspire undergraduate pharmacists and promote CDDFT as a career option by modelling exemplary pharmacist behaviours knowledge and values.

Job responsibilities

Working with Sunderland University and other pharmacy placement supervisors at CDDFT you will plan and deliver the undergraduate placement programme to an allocated cohort of 12 students from Sunderland university.

You will inspire and attract undergraduate pharmacists to acareer in hospital pharmacy by demonstrating your clinical input and pharmaceutical knowledge.

You will deliver classroom based learning and drive student engagement with learning objectives using materials provided by Sunderland university and ensure that students understand the application of classroom concepts toward based clinical work.

You will review assessments of entrustable activities ensuring that colleagues understand the assessments and that they are appliedin a uniform way on our wards

You will provide timely feedback to students and university staff as required by Sunderland university

You will keep accurate registers and ensure that these are available to both Sunderland university staff and lead E&T pharmacist for costing purposes

You will work withroom bookings to ensure that appropriate teaching space is available to support the students.

  • -Good oral and written communication skills.
  • -Able to travel independently across Trust sites to meet the requirements of the post.
Statutory Registration
  • -Registered member of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • -Membership of a pharmacy professional body e.g. RPS, UKCPA, BOPA, NPPG.
Special Skills & Knowledge
  • -Able to manage, monitor, advise and review medicines reconciliation for patients.
  • -Demonstrates accountability for delivering professional expertise and direct service provision as an individual.
  • -Recognises personal limitations and refers to more appropriate colleague(s) when necessary.
  • -Able to motivate self to achieve goals.
  • -Able to improve quality within limitations of service.
