We are recruiting for a motivated and enthusiastic Purchasing/Stock Controller to join and lead our busy Purchasing Department on a fixed-term maternity cover contract of 1 year and 2 months, starting in July 2026. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in the manufacturing sector, be a confident self-starter with strong organisational skills and the ability to effectively manage inventories.

Job Role:
Negotiating terms and conditions with suppliers and contractors Following and enforcing the companys procurement policies and procedures Sourcing refractory raw materials from suppliers globally Preparing purchase plans for refractory raw materials, PPE, and other miscellaneous items Managing inventories and maintaining accurate purchase and pricing records Maintaining the supplier database, purchase records, and related documentation Coordinating with the production and technical departments on stock requirements and making purchases accordingly Ensuring all procured items meet the required quality standards and specifications, working closely with the quality control team Providing required information for import customs clearance Raising purchase orders on the system and completing Goods Received Notes (GRN) Conducting monthly stock counts and reconciling with system records
About You:
Minimum of 2 years experience in a purchasing role within the manufacturing sector (experience with minerals/refractories is advantageous) Strong negotiation skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the confidence to communicate at all levels Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and experienced with MRP/ERP systems Knowledge of inventory and supply chain management Ability to work independently and as a self-starter Package:
Salary: (depending on experience)
Hours:
40 hours per week Holidays: 25 days plus statutory holidays Pension: 5% company contribution Death in Service: 4 x salary
