The CompanyA leading global automotive manufacturing organisation is seeking a Quality Engineer to support new model activity at its established North East facility. The business operates in a fast-paced, technically demanding environment and is committed to innovation, inclusion, continuous improvement and employee development.
Job DescriptionThe Quality Engineer will take responsibility for New Model Quality Assurance activities, supporting the development of parts and manufacturing processes from trial build through to production launch.
Working closely with customers, suppliers, toolmakers and internal project teams, the Quality Engineer will create and maintain quality documentation while ensuring APQP, IATF 16949 and project milestone requirements are achieved.
Key responsibilities- Managing quality activities for new model launches
- Acting as a key customer contact for part development and countermeasure updates
- Supporting trial builds, SOP ramp-up planning, gate reviews and quality reviews
- Coordinating metrology, inspection standards and key feature requirements
- Managing supplied-part APQP and approval submissions
- Supporting kaizen, process audits and Quick Response Quality Circle activities
- Coordinating the daily workload of Quality Technicians
- An HNC or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience
- Experience in a similar role within fast-paced automotive manufacturing
- At least five years’ high-volume manufacturing experience, ideally involving interior components or assembly
- Strong knowledge of APQP and IATF 16949 systems and processes
- A sound understanding of metrology, CMM, gauge development and technical drawings
- Process auditing experience; an IATF or ISO auditor qualification would be advantageous
- Excellent communication, organisation and Microsoft Office skills
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively
