Residential Child Care Worker
Grade 5 | £31,022–£33,699 per annum + 10% shift allowance. (This can equate to an additional allowance of £3102 per annum at minimum salary range and £3369 per annum at maximum salary range on top of the basic salary). Pay award pending.
Working PatternPermanent | Full-time | 8 week rota including evenings, weekends & sleep‑ins (£43.12 per sleep‑in).
LocationWhite House Children's Home, White House (boundary between Sunderland and South Tyneside).

Key Responsibilities- Act as a link worker for an identified child
- Build trusting, nurturing relationships with children and young people
- Support children with emotional regulation, communication, and daily routines
- Work within behaviour support plans and therapeutic approaches
- Promote independence, confidence and positive life experiences
- Collaborate with the wider care team, social workers, families and external professionals
- Maintain a safe, structured, and warm home environment
- Participate in activities, outings and community engagement
- Support with personal care where required
- Complete accurate and timely records and reports
- Warm, compassionate, patient and resilient
- Able to remain calm under pressure and respond to challenging behaviour safely and professionally
- A positive role model with genuine enthusiasm for supporting young people

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check. An online internet search may also be carried out for publicly available information.
