Job Description
Assist and support teachers of students with disabilities in behavior, autism, assistive technology, and instructional strategies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Comply with the State-approved Code of Ethics and department/unit procedures concerning confidentiality of staff information.
- Provide training, guidance, assistance, and classroom support for IEP implementation, instructional methodologies, specialized curricula, assistive technology, classroom environment design, and interpretation of assessment data.
- Provide regular reports to the Director of Special Education for Instruction & Homebound regarding training, program status, student outcomes, and support provided to campus teachers and staff.
- Maintain positive and effective relationships with teachers, administrators, services personnel, and clerical staff.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Director of Special Education.
- Proven track record in instructional coaching, mentoring, or professional development facilitation.
- Strong understanding of data-driven decision-making processes and ability to analyze student performance data to inform instructional practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of schools and educators within the district.
- Commitment to ongoing professional growth and development.
- Passion for supporting the academic success and holistic development of all students.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Master's degree (M.
A.) or equivalent with specialization in Special Education. - Five (5) or more years of related experience.
- New Mexico Level III Teacher License.
- Ability to use multiple virtual instructional platforms.
- Proficient in Google Suites.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites.
- Ability to use multiple student data platforms.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general education periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from administrators and staff.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to work with probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry, and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Physical/Mental DemandsUse hands and fingers to handle or feel, talk or hear. Required to sit frequently, occasionally stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and lift up to 25 lbs. Vision abilities required include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, along with the ability to adjust focus. Documentation primarily occurs on a computer.
Work EnvironmentThe work environment is moderate in noise level. Quietness is required for data entry and research tasks, while tolerance to classroom noise is necessary when working with teachers and principals.
