About the OpportunityWe’re looking for motivated Junior Electrical Testing Technicians to join one of our successful and stable clients. Based out of Sunnyvale CA, all work will be within the San Jose area with no travel required. They have an experienced team who are ready to train a class of junior technicians to grow within the business.
This role is full time, with a clear progression plan and training as well as good benefits.
You’ll work alongside experienced field engineers and technicians to test, commission, and maintain electric vehicle charging systems across commercial, municipal, and fleet sites.
This is a hands-on, entry-level position - ideal for someone with a strong electrical foundation who’s passionate about clean energy, emerging technology, and working outdoors on real projects.
What You’ll Do- Support the testing, startup, and maintenance of EV charging stations and related electrical infrastructure (typically up to 12kV).
- Assist with power quality testing, insulation resistance, continuity checks, and functional testing on chargers, switch gear, and panels.
- Verify proper grounding, cable terminations, and electrical connections.
- Learn how to read one-line diagrams and identify faults in electrical systems.
- Document all test results and assist with startup reports.
- Follow all safety procedures and site protocols (NFPA 70E, OSHA, company safety standards).
- 1–2 years of electrical experience OR relevant schooling (electrical trade, military power systems, or engineering technology)
- Basic understanding of electrical distribution systems (480V–12kV) and AC/DC theory.
- Interest in EV charging, renewable energy, and sustainable infrastructure.
- Strong mechanical/electrical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Willingness to travel locally for projects and work outdoors.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Experience with EVSE installation or commissioning, solar, or power distribution systems.
- Familiarity with test equipment (multimeters, megohmmeters, ground resistance testers).
- Certifications or coursework toward NETA Level I, EVITP, or OSHA 10.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and report preparation.
- Hands-on training with experienced commissioning teams.
