Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the FBM Missile Flight Sciences Engineering team. The successful candidate will support the Aerothermal team by conducting thermal analyses on missile system‑level and component‑level hardware for the FBM Common Missile Compartment program.
Responsibilities- Perform thermal analyses on missile system‑level and component‑level hardware.
- Own computational, physics‑based modeling, simulations, and results.
- Correlate model results to missile requirements and support risk mitigation.
- Work and interact with multiple engineering fields across multiple sites.
- Present key findings and results to internal and external customers.
- Provide recommendations to support peer and customer reviews.
- Leverage thermal analysis expertise to support key program milestone reviews.
- Provide user documentation and recommendations to data packages to support peer reviews and present analysis data to engineering teams, customer technical representatives, and Program Office personnel at technical interchange meetings and program milestone design reviews.
- Knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, material properties, and computer programming.
- Understanding of thermal computational, physics‑based modeling & simulation and analysis.
- Ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance; ship is required.
- Bachelor’s degree (2+ years of experience) or Master’s degree in Physics, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Proficient in Matlab, Python, Fortran; experience with Thermal Desktop, Abaqus, NX Thermal.
- Experience analyzing thermal systems with subsystem/component‑level impacts.
- Strong communication and presentation skills; active Top Secret clearance.
