As a Materials & Processes Lab Engineer you’ll work on a broad range of projects in a laboratory environment that will challenge you to learn and grow in your career. Working side by side with designers, test and manufacturing engineers, you’ll use your education, skills and expertise to develop and evaluate new and innovative technology to survive in the most hostile of environments.

In

this role you will:
  • Coordinate with other disciplines such as Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, and Procurement
  • Interface with customers in the development of test plans, performance of laboratory testing and evaluation of data
  • Prepare samples and measure physical, performance, and processing properties of representative materials and parts using standard and specialized equipment and instrumentation
  • Perform laboratory analyses on test samples/parts using a wide range of equipment, from handheld fixtures to highly specialized test instruments.
  • Prepare laboratory reports
We’re looking for:
  • A self-starter who develops solutions to technical issues
  • A motivated individual who’s able to work closely within a geographically diverse team to resolve technical issues
  • Someone with the ability to handle shifting priorities, multiple projects and timeline pressure to meet deadlines
  • Someone comfortable with communicating in a variety of forums
  • The ability to work with management and program representatives at several levels

Successful applicants will typically possess 1 years of professional experience with a minimum education level of Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline (Material Science, Material Engineering, or related field), or equivalent experience/combined education.

Basic Qualifications
  • Background in material science or engineering with a strong foundation in material properties, processing, and characterization.
  • Professional experience working in a laboratory environment
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment
  • Knowledge of engineering materials, including coatings, polymeric materials, silicones, epoxies, and composites.
Desired skills
  • Experience with statistical analysis, data visualization, and identifying trends and correlations, as well as evaluating data against specifications and standards.
  • Familiarity with ASTM, AMS, or MIL specifications related to coatings, polymeric materials, metals, and electrical wires/cables.
  • Familiar with contamination control testing including material out gassing, non-volatile residue (NVR) analysis, particle counting, etc.
  • Knowledge of standards related to the testing of coatings, polymeric materials, electrical wires/cables, and electronic components.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment such as spray guns, spectrometers, microscopes, and mechanical testers.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills, with experience in preparing and reviewing technical reports.
