Location:

Mid-level role focused on driving progress, solving problems, and mentoring junior team members, with deep expertise and applied knowledge within the relevant area.

This specialized role requires physical interaction with hardware equipment in a simulated data center environment, utilizing Google labs, power, and safety equipment. Regular development and processing of engineering hardware must be performed on site.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience working with power converter design, including DC/DC converter design, board bring-up, and debugging.
Preferred qualifications
  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • 1 year of experience in technical leadership.
  • Experience in power system design.
  • Experience with analyzing and organizing data.
  • Knowledge of power electronics fundamentals and various power conversion designs for data center power delivery.
  • Knowledge of power converter modeling and simulation.

As a Hardware Engineer, you design and build the systems that are the heart of the world's largest and most powerful computing infrastructure, from the lowest levels of circuit design to large system design, and see those systems through to high-volume manufacturing. You will manage projects across multiple areas with your expertise, monitor vendor performance, evaluate new technologies, and serve as a key member of the team. In this role, you will play a key role in the development of one of the world's fastest growing computing infrastructures, delivering innovative power solutions for point-of-load applications. Your objectives include designing, analyzing, optimizing, and implementing board- and chip-level power topologies and control for large-scale point-of-load applications, including ASICs, FPGAs, and processors.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $147,000-$216,000, plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
  • Innovate and design on‑board power conversion specifications and solutions; analyze performance, cost, reliability, and availability trade‑offs.
  • Lead projects that involve new technologies or new uses of multiple existing technologies.
  • Partner with power industry leaders to lead evaluation and adoption of the most compelling technologies.
  • Engage cross‑functionally to ensure successful roll‑out, testing, and complete validation.
  • Provide technical leadership and direction while troubleshooting complex system‑level power issues.
