Position: Benefits Program Manager

Benefits Program Manager – Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and development of comprehensive benefits programs, including health insurance, healthcare initiatives, retirement plans, life insurance, voluntary benefits, and more.
  • Conduct market research and benchmarking to ensure benefits offerings remain competitive and meet workforce needs across all offices.
  • Collaborate with Benefits leaders and Talent Management groups to align benefits strategies with organizational goals and priorities.
  • Conduct a gap analysis of benefit needs across the organization and assess the viability of proposed benefit plan changes.
  • Oversee day-to-day administration of employee benefits programs, including enrollment, eligibility verification, and vendor management.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, such as ERISA, HIPAA, and ACA, by staying informed of legislative changes and coordinating with legal and compliance teams.
  • Partner with HRIS and Payroll teams to optimize benefits administration processes and enhance data accuracy and reporting capabilities.
  • Optimize HRIS capabilities to automate benefits administrative functions and make mobile access available where feasible.
  • Partner with Benefits Administrator and Benefits Analyst on the development and implementation of communication strategies to educate employees about benefits options, enrollment periods, and updates.
  • Work with vendors and internal staff to create informative materials, presentations, and online resources to help employees understand their benefits value and make informed decisions.
  • Deliver education programming on available benefit and retirement offerings.
  • Work with the Benefits Director to evaluate, select, and manage relationships with benefit vendors, including consultants, insurance providers, and retirement plan administrators.
  • Involved in strategy decisions for contract negotiations, pricing terms, and service level agreements to optimize value for the organization while ensuring high quality benefit offerings.
  • Monitor vendor performance and conduct regular meetings to address issues or concerns.
  • Work with Benefits Administrator on annual budgeting for all benefit and retirement plans.
  • Ensure accurate recordkeeping and reporting for benefit-related data, including employee participation, costs, and compliance requirements.
  • Prepare and file necessary reports and disclosures, such as Form 5500 filings and annual ACA reporting.
  • Coordinate audits and assessments of benefits programs to ensure adherence to internal policies and external regulations.
  • Knowledge of ERISA rules and compliance.
  • Experience reviewing Plan Documents and SPDs.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or related field;
    Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CEBS, PHR, SPHR) preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in benefits administration, HR management, or related field, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • In-depth knowledge of employee benefits programs, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in HRIS and benefits administration software, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated ability to drive results, foster collaboration, and champion a culture of continuous improvement/change within the organization.
Compensation

The national average salary range for this role is $96,000–$157,000. Starting salary will be determined based on location, qualifications, and experience.
