About Us

Tech Equity Ai is a non-profit organization dedicated to making AI accessible for everyone. We break down barriers to AI knowledge and innovation, ensuring that all individuals—regardless of background—have the opportunity to engage with and leverage AI for positive transformation. Through initiatives like the Ai Summit, we are building a global, inclusive ecosystem that fosters collaboration, innovation, and ethical AI development.

Role Overview

Tech Equity Ai is seeking a skilled Word Press Developer to join our volunteer team and contribute to the development and maintenance of our digital presence. This role involves customizing Word Press themes, developing plugins, and ensuring website functionality across all devices. The ideal candidate is passionate about web development, eager to apply their technical skills for a meaningful cause, and excited to work within a collaborative environment.

This role is structured for at least 25 hours per week for a minimum of four months, with the option to extend.

This is a fast-paced, hands-on role for individuals who excel in dynamic environments. While a volunteer position, it upholds the high standards of Silicon Valley’s tech and nonprofit sector. We seek independent, resourceful problem-solvers with relevant experience who are ready to apply their knowledge and take on multiple responsibilities to support the team. Success in this role requires adaptability, initiative, independence and a willingness to step in where needed.

This opportunity is not structured as a training program; it is an opportunity to engage in high-impact work, gain real-world exposure in a results-driven AI and technology landscape.

Key Responsibilities
  • Website Development & Customization: Develop, customize, and maintain Word Press themes and plugins.
  • Technical Support & Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve technical issues to ensure smooth website performance.
  • Performance Optimization: Enhance website speed, performance, and responsiveness.
  • Security Management: Implement security measures and ensure Word Press sites remain secure.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with designers, content creators, and other developers to ensure seamless user experiences.
  • Maintenance & Updates: Manage regular updates of Word Press core, plugins, and themes.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain clear documentation for website configurations and customizations.
Qualifications
  • Solid experience with Word Press CMS development, including custom themes and plugins.
  • Familiarity with responsive web design principles and mobile-first development.
  • Experience with MySQL or other database management systems.
  • Knowledge of website security best practices and performance optimization.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve website issues.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Prior experience working in non-profit or volunteer environments is a bonus.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with page builders (e.g., Elementor, Divi) and advanced custom fields.
  • Understanding of SEO principles and best practices.
  • Knowledge of website analytics and reporting tools (e.g., Google Analytics).
  • Familiarity with integrating APIs and third-party services.
  • Passion for AI, technology, and community-driven initiatives.
  • Networking opportunities with professionals from large corporations, emerging startups, VCs, and creative firms in Silicon Valley.
How to Apply
  • Interested candidates are invited to submit interest forms, resumes, and your previous work examples, if any.
