Senior Manager, Data Science

Walmart International is seeking a Senior Manager of Data Science to lead and innovate Search & Personalization across our global markets. This role will develop AI and machine learning solutions to enhance product discovery, search relevance, and personalized customer experiences. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop scalable solutions that optimize business performance and customer engagement.

The Search & Personalization team shapes customer interaction with Walmart's digital platforms worldwide. Our mission is to develop machine learning models that power relevant search and personalized recommendations, creating seamless shopping experiences.

• Lead and mentor data scientists and ML engineers to develop search ranking, personalization, and recommendation systems.
• Design and implement ML models for query understanding, ranking, and personalization.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to deploy scalable AI solutions.
• Develop A/B testing frameworks to optimize models.
• Partner with product teams to align AI strategies with market goals.
• Drive innovation in generative AI and LLMs for search and personalization.
• Stay updated on AI industry trends to enhance Walmart's capabilities.

• 8+ years in data science, focusing on search, personalization, or recommender systems.
• 3+ years of leadership experience managing data science teams.
• Expertise in machine learning, NLP, information retrieval.
• Strong understanding of scalable ML system design, real-time inference, MLOps.
• Proficiency in Python, Spark, Tensor Flow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn.
• Experience with A/B testing, causal inference in large-scale environments.
• Ability to address multilingual search challenges globally.
• Excellent communication skills for stakeholder influence.

Outlined below are the minimum qualifications:

• Option 1:
  Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field + 5 years' experience in analytics.
• Option 2:
  Master's degree in the same fields + 3 years' experience.
• Option 3: 7 years' experience in analytics or related field.

Preferred qualifications include expertise in data science, machine learning, optimization models, a PhD in related fields, experience with open source frameworks (e.g., scikit-learn, Tensor Flow, Torch), supervisory experience, and knowledge of accessible digital experiences following WCAG 2.2 AA standards.
