Applied Science Manager, Artificial General Intelligence

The Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) team is looking for a passionate, talented, and inventive Applied Science Manager with a strong deep learning background, to lead the development of industry-leading technology with generative AI (GenAI) and multi‑modal systems.

As an Applied Science Manager with the AGI team, you will lead the development of novel algorithms and modeling techniques to advance the state of the art with multimodal systems. Your work will directly impact our customers in the form of products and services that make use of vision and language technology. You will leverage Amazon’s heterogeneous data sources and large‑scale computing resources to accelerate development with multimodal Large Language Models (LLMs) and GenAI in Computer Vision.

About the team

The AGI team has a mission to push the envelope with multimodal LLMs and GenAI in Computer Vision, in order to provide the best‑possible experience for our customers.

• 5+ years of scientists or machine learning engineers management experience
• Experience building machine learning models or developing algorithms for business application
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
• Experience with deep learning libraries such as PyTorch, Tensor Flow, Mx Net
• Research publications in computer vision, deep learning or machine learning at peer‑reviewed workshops, conferences or journals
• PhD, or Master’s degree and 5+ years of applied research experience

• PhD in Computer Vision, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or related field
• Experience leading, mentoring and growing teams of scientists (teams of five or more scientists)
• Experience in patents or publications at top‑tier peer‑reviewed conferences or journals
• Experience with popular deep learning frameworks, including Py Torch
• Experience with learning multimodal LLMs and GenAI in Computer Vision, both in the image and video domains

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $165,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $286,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
