Hiring: DOCSIS Device SME
Locations: Sunnyvale, CA
On-Site | Contract-to-Hire
We are seeking a DOCSIS Device SME with strong expertise across both the hardware and software aspects of Cable Modems and Residential Gateways
. This role will focus on DOCSIS device architecture, firmware, interoperability, provisioning, security, performance optimization, and customer deployments for next-generation broadband solutions.
- Serve as the technical lead for DOCSIS-based cable modem and gateway platforms.
- Support device architecture, firmware functionality, and feature integration across DOCSIS 3.0, 3.1, and emerging DOCSIS 4.0 technologies.
- Investigate and resolve complex device-side issues involving firmware, networking, provisioning, security, and hardware components.
- Work closely with chipset vendors (Broadcom, Max Linear, etc.), CMTS providers, and engineering teams to drive product improvements and issue resolution.
- Analyze device logs, packet captures, telemetry, and system behavior to identify root causes and optimize performance.
- Support DOCSIS provisioning, configuration management, certificates, PKI, secure boot, and firmware upgrade mechanisms.
- Provide technical guidance for customer deployments, escalations, and field issues.
- Strong experience with DOCSIS 3.0/3.1 (DOCSIS 4.0 preferred)
- Deep understanding of cable modem and broadband gateway hardware and software stacks
- Knowledge of DOCSIS provisioning, registration, bonding, security, DHCP, TFTP, DNS, IPv4/IPv6, NAT, and SNMP
- Experience working with embedded Linux environments and networking protocols
- Familiarity with Broadcom, Max Linear, or similar DOCSIS chipset platforms
- Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and root-cause analysis skills across firmware, networking, and device hardware layers
