Senior Android Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Android Engineer to design and implement sophisticated features in Walmart Android applications. This role requires deep expertise in building and optimizing Android apps using Java and Kotlin, while collaborating closely with product and design teams to deliver seamless user experiences. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving innovation, leading small teams, and mentoring junior engineers, while ensuring code quality, performance, and scalability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design and implement advanced features in Android applications.
• Collaborate with product and design teams to optimize user experience for the Android platform.
• Analyze and optimize application performance across devices.
• Experiment with new technologies and develop quick prototypes.
• Participate in code/configuration management, release processes, and environment setup.
• Analyze business requirements, storyboards, and other scrum artifacts to deliver iterative builds in an agile environment.
• Lead the discovery and high-level design phases for medium to large projects.
• Guide and mentor small groups of 3–5 engineers.
• Troubleshoot business and production issues, providing effective solutions.
• Incorporate business vision and industry trends into design decisions.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers.
• Ensure use of industry-standard tools for optimizing and testing code.
• Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.

• 4+ years of experience building native Android applications.
• Proficiency in Java and Kotlin.
• Strong understanding of Android SDK and app lifecycle.
• Experience in analyzing, debugging, and optimizing Android applications.
• Ability to design scalable and maintainable mobile solutions.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.

• Experience leading small engineering teams.
• Knowledge of industry trends and ability to drive technical innovation.
• Familiarity with release management, environment configuration, and CI/CD processes.

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
