About The Role

Door Dash is building the world's most reliable on‑demand logistics engine for delivery, and we are growing rapidly across global Engineering offices. We are looking for Staff Backend Engineers to build and maintain a large‑scale 24x7 global infrastructure system that powers Door Dash’s three‑side marketplace of Consumers, Merchants and Dashers.

Staff Backend Engineers will work on both Product and Product Platform based teams. Product‑focused engineers operate at the intersection of product and infrastructure, solving key business problems with elegant technical solutions. You’ll operate our backend services and architecture that support all product functionality, collaborate cross‑functionally, evaluate trade‑offs, and influence technical roadmaps. The role is hybrid, with some in‑office time expected, and you will report to an Engineering Manager.

• Develop, release, and run large‑scale web applications.
• Define the backend architecture and tech stack for a product area.
• Improve performance, reliability, scalability and security for our backend systems.
• Participate in transitioning a monolithic codebase to a microservice‑based architecture.
• Disrupt logistics by tackling bleeding‑edge technical problems.

• B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Computer Science or equivalent.
• 8+ years of industry experience.
• Prior experience with backend tech stacks.
• Ability to analyze and improve efficiency, scalability, and stability of system resources.
• Experience with service‑oriented architecture, REST APIs, unit testing, and architectural design.
• Understanding of modern web stacks and architecture (HTTP, REST).
• Experience with SQL and No

The successful candidate’s starting pay will fall within the pay range listed below and is determined by job‑related factors including skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. Base salary is localized. In addition to base salary, the role includes opportunities for equity grants. Talk to your recruiter for more information.

Pay ranges for this position (United States):

• I4: $130,600—$192,000 USD
• I5: $159,800—$235,000 USD
• I6: $193,800—$285,000 USD
