Property Accountant
Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Property Accountant to oversee all aspects of accounting for a large commercial real estate portfolio. This role will collaborate closely with department leaders to strengthen the accounting function while delivering high-quality service to both internal teams and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with Portfolio and Asset Managers to ensure profitability across assigned properties.
  • Manage cash flow and funding requests for the portfolio.
  • Support accounting integration for new property acquisitions.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and prepare journal entries.
  • Prepare, review, and distribute month-end financial reports, making adjustments as needed.
  • Compile monthly financial packages including Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Budget Variance, and Executive Summary.
  • Review and analyze AR/AP transactions for accuracy; identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules.
  • Prepare and post accrual entries with proper documentation.
  • Provide year-end support for audits and tax preparation.
  • Communicate directly with property owners and clients regarding financial matters.
Qualifications
  • 3–5 years of experience in commercial real estate property accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of lease accounting under GAAP.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred;
    Associate’s degree with equivalent experience considered.
  • Solid understanding of variance analysis and financial reporting.
  • High attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines without sacrificing accuracy.
  • Team-oriented mindset with strong ethical standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
