Join Lake Assault Boats as a Full-Time Marine Engineer/Designer in Superior, WI. This is a candidate pool posting for a Marine Engineer/Designer role with potential future openings. Lake Assault Boats focuses on design and fabrication of aluminum boats for clients including the US Navy and police/fire departments. Responsibilities- Collaborate with peers to design and create ship structures and systems that meet vessel requirements and specifications.
- Transform 3D designs into comprehensive 2D drawing sets and review CAD drafts for quality and accuracy.
- Prepare detailed bills of materials; coordinate with cross-functional teams, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Manage design changes and provide guidance to facilitate transitions from engineering to production.
- Engage in hands-on equipment testing, including builder s sea trials; maintain engineering change documentation.
- Perform mathematical modeling for weight studies and develop production drawings to uphold safety and excellence.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Rhino, Orca, Solid Works; experience with CAD tools and manual drafting workflows.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with peers and production teams.
- Basic understanding of electric circuitry, routing, and schematics.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Education:
Bachelor s Degree in Engineering or Naval Architecture preferred;
Associate s Degree in drafting or related field required. - Experience in design engineering or shipbuilding is beneficial.
- Physical requirements:
ability to work in a manufacturing setting, lift up to 50 lbs, navigate varied terrain, and occasionally climb stairs; ability to work in areas not environmentally controlled; capable of operating in a high-speed boating environment in variable weather.
