What you’ll do Partner with the Safety Manager to design, roll out, and continuously improve safety policies and procedures.
Produce regular safety observation reports tied to project milestones and risk levels.
Join pre-job and in-progress safety walks/inspections; flag hazards and propose controls.
Teach safety standards and equipment operation best practices to employees.
Offer actionable recommendations that elevate site safety performance.
Lead and document incident investigations to identify causes and corrective actions.
Maintain records for procedures, incidents, training, and program activities.
Facilitate safety meetings and audits with cross-functional teams.
Run orientations for employees, contractors, and visitors.
Coordinate customer-required safety meetings, programs, and reporting; collaborate with job-site safety personnel to resolve issues.
Coordinate medical transport for injured/ill employees; partner with medical providers and HR on return-to-work requirements.
Schedule and track new-hire and annual training with the Safety Manager.
Administer respirator fit testing for new hires and annual recertifications.
Verify adherence to company rules and regulatory requirements.
Manage environmental safety supply inventories and powered air-purifying respirator supplies.
Pitch in with additional safety-related tasks as assigned.
What you bring
Clear, confident communication—written and verbal—and strong customer service.
Excellent organization, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
Calm under pressure in fast-paced environments.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or similar tools.
Working knowledge of OSHA and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
Availability for 2nd shift and overtime when needed; weekend availability as required.
Credentials Hands-on experience working within a safety program (required).Maritime/shipyard background preferred, not required.
High school diploma or GED (required).Associate or bachelor’s degree in safety, industrial health, or related field (preferred).Valid Driver’s License.
Must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
Background check required.
Where you’ll work
You’ll split time between office, shop, and field. Expect grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, crawling, bending, climbing, overhead work, repetitive motions, and constant listening/visual focus. You must be able to access tight spaces (including manholes) and hold awkward postures for long stretches. Work happens indoors and outdoors across temperature extremes, around manufacturing equipment, and in environments with dusts, fogs, fumes, or gases—respirator use may be required.
You should be able to move/lift/pull/push up to 50 lbs. Periods of desk/computer work can be prolonged, and some areas may lack environmental controls during inclement weather.
