Role Overview

The Scrum Master enables a fast-moving, distributed software development team to deliver high-quality product increments at scale-up speed. Operating across an on-shore/off-shore model, this role ensures seamless collaboration across time zones, drives Agile discipline without bureaucracy, and removes friction so the team can focus on rapid delivery. The Scrum Master acts as a servant-leader, culture-carrier, and delivery accelerator during a critical scale-up phase.

Key Responsibilities Agile Delivery & Team Enablement
  • Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies with a focus on efficiency, clarity, and outcome driven discussions;
  • Maintain a healthy, prioritised Backlog in partnership with the Product Owner, Executive Team and Clients, ensuring work is ready for both on-shore and off-shore Team Members;
  • Support the team in breaking down work into small, testable increments that can be delivered quickly; &
  • Track delivery using lightweight, transparent metrics (velocity, burndown, throughput) to support predictable sprint outcomes.
Team Coaching & Culture Building
  • Coach team members in Agile values and scale-up delivery behaviours: ownership, speed, experimentation, and continuous improvement;
  • Foster a culture of high performance, psychological safety, open communication, and constructive challenge across geographically dispersed teams; &
  • Encourage engineering best practices such as Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment, Automated testing, and Dev Ops-aligned workflows.
Cross-geography Coordination
  • Establish and maintain strong collaborative and collegial working relationships with on-shore and off-shore Team Members;
  • Orchestrate smooth handovers between on-shore and off-shore Team Members to minimise idle time and maximise productivity;
  • Establish communication rhythms that support asynchronous collaboration and reduce dependency bottlenecks; &
  • Ensure documentation, acceptance criteria, and user stories are clear enough for on-shore and off-shore Team Members to progress independently.
Impediment Removal & Delivery Acceleration
  • Identify and remove technical, process, or organisational blockers quickly;
  • Anticipate delivery risks early and work with the Executive Team Members to resolve cross-geography, cross-product and/or other dependencies; &
  • Streamline processes to reduce friction and keep the team focused on delivering customer value.
  • Lead retrospectives that generate actionable improvements and track follow-through;
  • Analyse team performance trends to identify opportunities for process and ways of working optimisation; &
  • Champion Agile maturity across the organisation as it scales, helping teams evolve without adding unnecessary process overhead.
Stakeholder Alignment
  • Work closely with the Product Owner, Executive Team, Technical Leaders and Founder to ensure alignment on priorities and sprint goals;
  • Communicate progress, risks, and delivery expectations clearly and proactively;
  • Help stakeholders understand Agile trade-offs and support rapid decision-making; &
  • Partner with the Executive Team on operational planning, organisational maturity, and execution cadence.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience as a Scrum Master, Agile PRoduct Manager or Agile Delivery Lead in a software development environment, ideally within a start-up or scale-up;
  • Strong understanding of Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban) and Lean delivery principles;
