Title:
Cardiothoracic Surgeon (CTVS Surgeon).
Location:
On-site (India).
Devdort is seeking an experienced Cardiothoracic Surgeon to join a multidisciplinary surgical team delivering advanced cardiac and vascular surgical care. The ideal candidate will perform complex elective and emergency procedures, lead perioperative planning, and drive outcomes improvement in a high-volume centre.
Role & Responsibilities
Perform elective and emergency cardiothoracic and vascular surgeries, including CABG, valve repair/replacement, aortic aneurysm/dissection repairs and thoracic procedures with consistent adherence to safety protocols.
Lead preoperative assessment and perioperative management; coordinate with anesthesia, perfusion, and critical care teams to optimise patient outcomes.
Manage cardiopulmonary bypass and ECMO initiation/decannulation when indicated; make intraoperative decisions for complex hemodynamic scenarios.
Supervise, mentor and train surgical residents, fellows and OR staff; enforce sterile technique, checklists and evidence-based surgical workflows.
Drive quality improvement through morbidity & mortality reviews, surgical outcomes tracking, infection control and guideline-driven care pathways.
Participate in on-call rosters, emergency response for trauma/acute cardiac events, and multidisciplinary case planning meetings.
Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have
Proven expertise in coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG)
Experience in valve repair and replacement surgeries
Competence in aortic surgery (aneurysm and dissection repair)
Skill in cardiopulmonary bypass management
Proficiency in transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) interpretation
Experience with minimally invasive and thoracoscopic cardiac surgery
Preferred
Experience with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) cannulation and management
Pediatric cardiac surgery experience
Experience with heart transplant or ventricular assist devices (VAD) and robotic-assisted cardiac surgery
Qualifications & Personal Attributes
Postgraduate surgical qualification and recognised super-specialty (CTVS) credentials as required by local regulations.
Track record of high-quality surgical outcomes, multidisciplinary collaboration and participation in audit or research is advantageous.
Ability to perform under pressure and lead clinical teams in high-acuity settings.
