Consultant – Internal Medicine (MD)
About The Opportunity
A growing private healthcare provider in India's clinical services sector delivering comprehensive inpatient, outpatient and preventive care. We are expanding our internal medicine team to strengthen acute-care services, chronic disease management and clinical governance across our hospital and ambulatory facilities. This is an on-site role for a practicing MD (Internal Medicine) to lead patient care, drive quality outcomes and mentor junior clinicians.
Role & Responsibilities
Provide high-quality adult inpatient and outpatient medical care: assess, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic conditions using evidence-based protocols.
Lead daily ward rounds and coordinate multidisciplinary care plans with nursing, pharmacy, radiology and allied specialties.
Stabilize and manage medical emergencies, perform resuscitation, and activate escalation pathways for critical patients.
Perform bedside diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as indicated (e.g., pleural tap, central venous access, lumbar puncture) and interpret ECGs, labs and imaging.
Document clinical encounters in the EMR, ensure compliance with clinical governance, infection control and hospital policies.
Supervise, teach and mentor junior doctors, residents and nursing staff; participate in case reviews, audits and CME activities.
Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have
MD (Internal Medicine) or equivalent recognized postgraduate qualification.
Registration with the National Medical Commission (NMC) or relevant State Medical Council.
Proven clinical experience managing adult inpatient and outpatient services in a hospital setting.
Valid Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications.
Proficiency in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and accurate clinical documentation.
Ability to manage on-site rotational duties including emergency calls and night coverage.
Preferred
Experience managing patients in ICU/High-Dependency Units.
Certification or substantial experience in point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS).
Prior teaching, clinical mentorship or involvement in academic activities.
