The Dean shall be the academic and administrative head of the School of Education and shall be responsible for the overall planning, development, implementation, monitoring, and quality assurance of all teacher education programs in accordance with the norms of the National Council for Teacher Education, University Grants Commission, and the University.
Key Responsibilities:
Academic Leadership
Provide strategic leadership for
B.Ed., M.Ed., Integrated Teacher Education Programmes (ITEP), and other education programmes.
Ensure compliance with NCTE Regulations, UGC Regulations, NEP 2020, and other statutory requirements.
Lead curriculum development, revision, and implementation.
Promote innovative teaching-learning practices and educational research.
Administration & Governance
Manage academic, administrative, and financial affairs of the School.
Prepare annual academic plans, budgets, and development proposals.
Coordinate accreditation and regulatory inspections.
Ensure maintenance of records required by NCTE and other regulatory bodies.
Faculty Development
Recruit, mentor, and evaluate faculty members.
Promote faculty research, publications, consultancy, and professional development.
Facilitate collaboration with schools, educational institutions, and government agencies.
Research & Extension
Promote research projects, funded studies, and publications in education.
Organize conferences, workshops, FDPs, seminars, and outreach activities.
Establish collaborations with national and international institutions.
Student Development
Monitor academic progress and professional development of students.
Strengthen school internship, practice teaching, and placement activities.
Ensure effective student mentoring and support systems.
Quality Assurance
Lead NAAC, NCTE, and other accreditation-related activities.
Develop and monitor quality indicators and outcome-based education practices.
Ensure continuous improvement in academic and administrative processes.
Essential Qualifications (As per NCTE & UGC Norms)
A candidate for the position of Dean, School of Education should possess:
Master's Degree in a relevant discipline with at least 55% marks.
M.Ed. degree with minimum 55% marks.
Ph.D. in Education.
Qualification and experience equivalent to that prescribed for the post of Professor in Education under UGC/NCTE norms.
Minimum 10 years of teaching experience in a Teacher Education Institution as prescribed under NCTE norms for Professor/Head of Institution positions.
Desirable Qualifications
Experience as Principal/Dean/Head of Department in a recognized Teacher Education Institution.
Administrative experience in higher education institutions.
Research publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Experience in NAAC, NCTE, IQAC, and accreditation processes.
Experience in handling funded research projects.
Diploma/Degree in Educational Administration, Leadership, or Educational Management.
Preferred Experience
15+ years of teaching/research experience in higher education.
Experience in managing
B.Ed., M.Ed., or Integrated Teacher Education Programmes.
Proven record of academic leadership, institution building, and policy implementation .
Reporting
The Dean, School of Education shall report to the Vice-Chancellor/Provost and shall function as the chief academic and administrative officer of the School of Education.
