QC & Formulation Development Chemist - Agrochemicals Division

We are setting up a new agrochemical formulations division at Suman Chemical Industries, Sachin GIDC, Surat. We are not looking for someone to sit in a lab and run samples all day. We are looking for a chemist who can run QC, conduct lab-scale formulation trials, troubleshoot production batches, and help us scale a product from bench to plant — all in one role.
WHAT YOU WILL DO

Quality Control

• Set up and run QC for agro formulation batches — raw material, in-process, and finished product analysis

• Operate and maintain analytical instruments: HPLC, GC, Karl Fischer, Particle Size Analyzer, Viscometer, UV Spectrophotometer, pH Meter

• Prepare and maintain COAs, batch records, calibration logs, and SOPs from scratch

• Ensure compliance with CIB&RC, BIS 6940, GLP, and ISO documentation standards

• Conduct stability studies and product changeover analysis

• Prepare export-standard COAs for domestic and international clients

Formulation R&D & Pilot Batches

• Conduct lab-scale formulation trials for new EC, SC, WP, and WDG products before plant-scale production runs

• Optimise formulation parameters — emulsifier selection and ratios, solvent systems, active ingredient loading, pH, and stability

• Troubleshoot formulation failures at lab scale and identify root causes before they reach the production floor

• Prepare and execute pilot batch protocols; document all observations, deviations, and adjustments

• Work closely with the production team to scale up successful lab trials to commercial batch sizes

• Maintain a formulation development register — every trial, every result, every iteration documented

• Evaluate raw material alternatives and new excipients/co-formulants against existing specifications

✅ WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• BSc / MSc in Chemistry, Pesticide Chemistry, or related discipline

• 2 to 7 years of hands-on experience in agrochemical formulation QC or R&D

• Strong working knowledge of formulation types: EC, SC, WP, WDG, SL, CS, ZC, EW - you must understand not just how to test them but how they are made and what can go wrong

• Comfortable writing SOPs, pilot batch protocols, and formulation development records

• Self-driven — this is a greenfield lab with no existing playbook; you will write it
