This position specializes in operating one or more burning machines to burn plate in various shapes. Plans and performs operations which require set-up, adjustment and operating a CNC Plasma cutting table with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency.
Primary (Essential) Duties:- Experience operating a CNC Oxy‑Plasma Burn table with CNC Multi‑head, 5‑axis beveling.
- Operate all fabrication equipment such as saw, stud welder, iron worker, bender, drill press, punch, shot blaster, vulcanizing equipment and a variety of portable hand tools.
- Load and unload plates of steel onto the burn table using overhead cranes while working safely and verifying quality parts.
- Understand and interpret blue prints and technical drawings.
- Conduct dimensional inspections of parts and check for quality requirements.
- Coordinate proper programming with CNC controls, making changes, or recommendations for changes as is appropriate.
- Responsible for safe operation, care and maintenance of shop equipment in general.
- Operate tow motor, swing crane, overhead crane and other material handling equipment.
- Operate his/her area/function in accordance with and awareness of Company Safety policies.
- Take immediate action to eliminate significant risk and to propose actions to eliminate non‑conformance or deviations.
- Ensure that individual responsibilities within the unit/function are clearly documented and communicated.
- Training other employees in process and procedures so adequate fill in operator is available.
- Read, understand, and follow job order specifications, engineering drawings, and/or work orders.
- Must have at least basic math skills and the ability to make mathematical calculations (add, subtract, multiply and divide).
- Must have the experience/ability to properly and accurately utilize measuring devices (Standard and Metric) within specified tolerances.
- One year of experience driving a forklift, and one year of experience operating an overhead crane.
- Positive, willingness to learn and participate in a changing environment to reach a common goal.
- Willingness to cross‑train and perform the work of other job tasks in addition to the primary assigned position.
- Inspect equipment to maintain functional equipment; if any equipment needs repairs notify supervisor or maintenance department.
- Perform a variety of complicated tasks, as required.
- At least 3 years of experience operating a CNC plasma burn table.
- Prior industry related experience a plus.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Traditional work schedule to include occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet business needs.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently stands and reaches with hands and arms, and performs repetitive tasks. The employee is frequently required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee may regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and infrequently lift and/or move up to 45 pounds.
The employee may regularly be required to perform forceful use of hands, wrist and forearms. Employee's vision must be correctable to 20/20 depth perception.
