Staff Accountant (CPA Student) - Surrey, BC
Full-time | On-site (in-office)
Compensation and schedule- Salary: $50,000-$60,000 per year (based on experience)
- Hours:
Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:30pm - Work arrangement:
Fully in-office role - This role requires longer hours during certain peak periods; time off in lieu will be provided
Bridex Accounting Services is a growing CPA firm in Surrey with a diversified client base that includes private sector businesses, professional corporations, estates, and high net-worth individuals. We are adding a Staff Accountant to support client work and help the firm continue to grow.
Role overviewThis is a hands-on public practice role with exposure to compilation files, corporate and personal tax work, and bookkeeping. The successful candidate is detail-oriented, professional, and interested in building a long-term career with the firm. There is meaningful room to grow over time, including potential long-term partner opportunities for the right person.
Key responsibilities- Manage client relationships with a professional, service-first approach.
- Prepare and review corporate working paper files (Compilation engagements) across a variety of industries.
- Prepare corporate and personal income tax returns.
- Complete bookkeeping, including investments and more complex files; provide backup support to bookkeeping staff as needed.
- Research accounting standards and the Income Tax Act and apply findings to client files.
- Identify and share advisory or business opportunities that align with the firm's approach and client needs.
- Accounting diploma or degree.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in public practice in a similar role.
- Currently working toward CPA designation (required).
- Strong technical and analytical skills in accounting, tax, and general business.
- Very strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable speaking with clients.
- High attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Excellent skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Intermediate-to-advanced Excel skills are required
- Experience with Caseware, Taxprep, and Quick Books Online is an asset
