Senior Accountant, Audit and Assurance – Private Company
Location of work: Street, Surrey, BC, V3Z 1H8

Terms of employment: Permanent, full-time
Wage: $80,000 – $104,000 per annum, plus annual discretionary bonus/overtime. Subject to the company’s performance review, compensation may be increased in the future.

Vacation time: 3 weeks (15 days) of paid time off per year

Responsibilities- Planning and executing notice to reader and review engagements, including preparing financial statements in accordance with ASPE standards.
- Preparing and reviewing Canadian personal and trust tax returns.
- Understanding client businesses, identifying issues, and recommending improvements.
- Producing clear, concise reports for review by engagement managers.
- Applying technical knowledge and research to develop client and firm recommendations.
- Anticipating engagement risks and implementing appropriate solutions in collaboration with managers.
- Training, mentoring, and providing feedback to junior team members to support their development.
- Reviewing journal entries and reconciliations prepared by junior accountants for accuracy.
- Performing analyses and preparing account reconciliations as required.
- Building strong client relationships and responding promptly to requests.
- Communicating effectively with partners, managers, and other team members to ensure client expectations are met.
- Identifying new business opportunities within existing client relationships.
- Ensuring compliance with internal controls and firm policies.
- Coordinating complex accounting projects and collaborating with other departments as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
- Completion of, or currently pursuing, a CPA designation.
- At least 2 years experience working with private, owner‑managed clients in a public accounting firm.
- Demonstrated proficiency in financial accounting and Canadian tax principles.
- Experience preparing Canadian personal and corporate income tax returns.
- Demonstrated experience coaching and mentoring junior team members.
- Strong working knowledge of accounting systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Computer software proficiency in Caseware and Tax Prep.
- Proficient in both written and verbal communication in English.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi‑task and work under pressure.
