Role Overview A role has arisen for a talented Accounting Bookkeeper with a specialism in US Tariff’s to join the finance team on site at our offices in Surrey, BC. The ideal candidate is an experienced bookkeeper with an excellent telephone manner and the ability to work with our clientele with billing and collections, plus considerable experience in the preparation and processing of commercial invoices meeting the customs requirements of both Canada and the US, and experience preparing and processing duty documentation for the import of machined goods into the US.
Duties and Responsibilities Specialist skills Prepare customs documentation.
Assist with Duty Drawback.
Process commercial invoices Calculate and process (via EDI) all the corresponding documents to our brokers to clear the items at the border at the time of the sale.
Calculate and review applicable tariffs based on destination, country of origin and changes from the corresponding governmental entities CBSA and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency.
Calculate and process ACH payments towards the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency.
Customer Liaison Work with customers on billing and collections.
Communicate effectively with customers, sales representatives, and other internal departments regarding billing and payment inquiries.
Reconcile customer accounts and resolve any discrepancies or issues.
Monitor and follow up on overdue accounts and initiate collection actions.
Process customer refunds and adjustments in a timely manner.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of customer payments and transactions.
Prepare the specific customer AR month end statement.
Financial and Administrative Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and relevant accounting standards.
Credit card and AMEX payments online.
Deposit cheques.
Return shipments and prepare/send credit memo’s accurately.
Prepare regular and commercial invoices.
Print cheques.
Calculate and prepare cheques for utility, tax, and other bills.
Send timely shipping confirmations.
Provide additional shipping documentation and provide additional support as required.
Schedule and print courier labels.
Update spreadsheet data on a timely basis.
Assist with month‑end closing and audit activities.
Post journal entries and reconcile accounts, prepare trial balance of books, and maintain general ledgers.
Prepare tax returns and perform other bookkeeping services.
Reporting & Records Prepare other statistical, financial, and accounting reports.
Prepare and analyze accounts receivable reports and metrics.
Keep financial records and establish, maintain, and balance various accounts using Net Suite (ERP).
Prepare and update reports on a timely basis.
Other tasks and responsibilities as needed to help the business with efficiency and high performance.
Experience CAN/US Commercial invoice preparation and processing: 1 year (required)

Location On site in Surrey, BC (5 days a week on site)
