THE ROLE

STRIVE Recruitment is partnering with a well-established Surrey-based manufacturer with over 100 employees and a reputation for producing high-quality food products supplied to major retailers and customers across North America.

As the business continues to grow and invest in its operations, they're looking to add a Senior Accountant to their collaborative finance team. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, this newly created position offers the opportunity to take ownership of month-end accounting, inventory, financial reporting and compliance while working closely with Operations, Purchasing, R&D and senior leadership to support the wider business.

Beyond traditional financial reporting, you'll gain exposure to production planning, demand forecasting, costing and new product launches—offering a level of operational involvement rarely found in a Senior Accountant position. Previous production planning experience isn't required; the business is looking for someone with strong analytical skills, commercial curiosity and a genuine desire to grow into an Accounting Manager over time.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead the month-end close process and prepare financial information for senior management review.

Prepare monthly commission reports and statements.

Coordinate GST, WCB and other statutory reporting requirements.

Manage inventory reconciliations, cycle counts and variance analysis.

Prepare year-end working papers and liaise with the external accounting firm.

Oversee customer deductions and support the Accounts Receivable function.

Partner closely with the Accounts Payable and Payroll teams to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Manage the Import to Re-Export (IREP) program.

Assist with inventory planning, costing exercises and new product launches alongside Operations, Purchasing and R&D.

Support production planning by analysing customer demand, inventory levels and production requirements.

Contribute to process improvements and support the implementation of a future ERP system.

Competitive base salary of $80,000 - $95,000.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

4+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within a manufacturing or product-based environment.

Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting, month-end close and financial reporting.

Experience with inventory accounting, reconciliations and variance analysis.

Exposure to costing or operational finance is considered an asset.

Manufacturing experience is preferred

CPA designation or active enrolment in the CPA program is considered an asset but is not required.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends and solve problems.

Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively across Finance, Operations and other business functions.

A proactive, hands-on approach with a genuine willingness to learn, contribute and take on new challenges.
