Position Overview

Finning Canada is seeking a Tool Lab Assistant – Part Time (Temporary) to support our industry leading team in Surrey, BC. The Tool Lab Assistant is responsible for identifying incoming goods and directing them appropriately; for shipping outgoing goods; and for ensuring the appropriate documentation accompanies outgoing shipments – e.g. bills of lading and other paperwork required by the transportation company, invoice, billing, or calibration certificate, etc.

Job Description
  • Receive and log tools and parts into the computer system
  • Add tool asset number to tracking list
  • Etch tooling as applicable
  • Organize repairs and distribute to repair area
  • Perform initial inspection of tools and open work orders for tool repairs
  • Correctly package and label tools for shipment
  • Correctly distribute tools and instruments to the correct predetermined location in the Tool Lab or to correct Supplier / Repair depot via the correct delivery method
  • General housekeeping and clean up of area
  • General tool repair/calibration/inspection
  • Other related duties as required
Qualifications
  • Grade 12 diploma
  • Knowledge of mechanical tools and repairs
  • Proficient in all aspects of MS office package
  • Excellent organization and leadership skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Capable of becoming proficient in calibrating tools used in our industry (torque, dimensional, pressure etc.)
  • Self-motivated team player with ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Computer literate and proficient with MS Word, Excel and Web-based applications
  • Previous experience working in a customer service environment would be an asset
Important Information
  • Role is in Surrey, BC on a 5x2 schedule.
  • This posting is for a part-time position working 20 hours minimum per week.
  • Manager and successful candidate will coordinate on scheduling.
  • Hours and shift schedule may be subject to change to meet customer and/or Finning (Canada) requirements.
  • Please note that any future shift changes that may occur will be made in accordance with the Terms & Conditions of the current Collective Agreement.
  • This is a Temporary position that is expected to last until November 30, 2026.
  • Union Membership:
