Position Overview

Apprentice – Service Department

Dealership:

Responsibilities
  • Receive repair orders and perform work as outlined with efficiency and accuracy, following dealership and factory standards.
  • Communicate with parts department for needed parts.
  • Examine vehicle to determine additional safety or service work required.
  • Save and tag parts if job is under warranty or requested by customer.
  • Advise Service Advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if outlined work is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within promised time.
  • Inform dispatcher when job starts, finishes, or is interrupted; be attentive to Repair Orders marked “RUSH” or “CUSTOMER WAITING”.
  • Maintain documentation of work performed.
  • Road‑test vehicles to quality‑check work and report discrepancies to Service Manager.
  • Attend factory-sponsored training classes and stay current on factory technical bulletins.
  • Ensure customers' cars are kept clean.
  • Keep shop area neat, clean, and free of safety hazards.
  • Comply with federal, provincial, and municipal regulations concerning hazardous waste disposal.
  • Follow company safety policies and immediately report any and all accidents to a Manager/Supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • Open Road reserves right to modify job description as business needs require.
Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of automotive equipment.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem‑solving skills for high‑quality work.
  • Highly self‑motivated and organized.
  • Well‑developed interpersonal skills for effective teamwork within Service Department.
  • Committed to consistently delivering high quality work.
  • Ability to make sound decisions consistent with essential job functions.
  • Valid British Columbia driver’s license with clean driver’s abstract.
  • Availability to work Saturday shifts.
