Job Description
Jim Pattison Toyota Surrey has an amazing opportunity for an Automotive Body Shop Technician to join our team! We are one of the highest volume facilities with state‑of‑the‑art amenities and have a highly experienced team dedicated to the highest level of automotive expertise and customer care. Schedule: This is a full‑time, permanent role of 40 hours per week. The regular scheduled hours will be Monday - Friday.
Pay Range: This position is paid on a flat‑rate basis at $34.00 per hour.
This role reports to the Body Shop Manager.
A Day in the Life- Perform structural and cosmetic collision repairs on a variety of vehicles
- Remove, repair, and replace damaged body panels and components
- Straighten frames and unibody structures using specialized equipment
- Weld, sand, fit, and prepare vehicles for the paint process
- Ensure repairs meet manufacturer specifications and quality standards
- Diagnose and document additional damage as needed
- Work closely with estimators, parts, and paint departments to keep repairs on schedule
- Reassemble vehicles, including trim, lighting, and safety‑related components
- Perform final quality inspections to ensure a safe, professional repair
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Use a variety of hand tools, power tools, and collision repair equipment
- Deliver high‑quality workmanship while meeting production and efficiency goals
- Automotive Body Repair Certification, I‑car structural welding Certification, and a positive can‑do attitude
- A valid BC Driver’s license is required, including a satisfactory Driver’s Abstract
- Experience repairing and replacing body panels
- Welding and metal repair skills
- Frame and structural repair experience
- Knowledge of vehicle measuring systems
- Ability to read repair estimates and manufacturer procedures
- Detail oriented, with the ability to multi‑task and prioritize responsibilities
- Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast‑paced environment
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable
- Ability to regularly lift up to 60 pounds
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- High level of mobility, dexterity, endurance, and sensory awareness
- Indoor automotive shop with multiple service bays
- Exposure to noise (engines, air tools), fumes (exhaust, solvents), and dust
- Work performed around moving vehicles, hoists, and heavy equipment
- Temperature can vary (shops may be cooler in winter, warmer in summer despite heating/ventilation)
