Industra is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator, Infrastructure to lead and support the development of competitive, accurate, and constructible estimates for heavy civil and infrastructure projects. This role works closely with operations, project management, and leadership to drive successful pursuits from early concept through final submission.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates for heavy civil, transit, and infrastructure projects
- Develop first-principles, bottom-up estimates with a strong focus on accuracy, risk, and constructability
- Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents to define scope, assumptions, and pricing strategies
- Collaborate with field operations to integrate real-world construction methods into estimate development
- Support design‑build pursuits, including cost modeling, value engineering, and alternative construction approaches
- Prepare quantity take-offs, pricing summaries, and estimate narratives
- Participate in internal estimate reviews and bid strategy discussions
- Assist with subcontractor and supplier pricing strategies as required
- 10–12 years of combined field and estimating experience in heavy civil, transit, or infrastructure construction
- Design‑build estimating experience is strongly preferred
- Thorough knowledge of Canadian construction practices, means, and methods
- Proven ability to interpret construction drawings, technical specifications, and contract requirements
- Strong experience with self‑performed civil and concrete work on heavy civil projects
- Highly detail‑oriented with demonstrated expertise in first‑principles estimating
- Excellent organizational and time‑management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative estimating team
- Willingness to travel on an as‑needed basis
- Proficiency with estimating software; experience with Bluebeam and Bid2
