Duties & Responsibilities- Work safely on a construction site and promote a safe work environment adhering to safety policies and procedures including participation in safety meetings
- Work with the Foreman and other team members to ensure pipe is aligned, positioned, and installed in accordance with project specifications
- Support the safe assembly and use of trench shoring systems
- Ensure back fill and compaction around pipe to ensure proper positioning and support
- Maintain equipment and promptly report any maintenance issues
- Train other employees and maintain quality results of work
- Support other crew members on daily site activities outside of job scope
- Experience in civil utilities including storm, sanitary sewer, water, and hydro
- Experience using pipe and rotary lasers
- Ability to read and understand drawings, specifications
- Working knowledge of pipe grading, survey, and evaluations
- Able to identify all hazards associated with various aspects of working in civil projects, as well as correctly communicate safety issues as they arise
- First aid, confined space, and fall protection training is an asset
- Good communications ability, able to work with variety of individuals
- Must be physically fit, able to spend most or all of shift standing, walking, lifting, carrying, and working hands‑on in an outdoor environment in all types of weather
- Flexible with hours worked, including overtime and weekend work as needed
- Willingness to learn and have a good work ethic
- Unionized base wage of $42.56/hour (wage subject to negotiation based on candidate's experience), plus 12.5% of gross earnings for vacation / statutory holidays.
