Overview
Reporting to the Director of Technical Services, the Technical Construction Inspector will perform site reviews of single‑family and/or multi‑family home warranty projects during construction, ensuring compliance with provincial building codes and minimum construction quality standards.
Responsibilities- Conduct construction reviews, assessments, and inspections of new projects to assess risk and provide technical expertise to the claims process.
- Escalate high‑risk reports to the Senior Manager, Technical Services.
- Identify and recommend solutions to bring projects into compliance with acceptable standards.
- Advise builders on deficiencies in building code, methods, materials, and workmanship.
- Provide technical construction reviews for the claims department on home warranty matters.
- Offer guidance and advice on construction matters to underwriting and claims staff.
- Maintain strong working relationships with builders, trades, project consultants, and other stakeholders.
- Travel daily to construction sites in a company vehicle; occasional travel beyond the regional area.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the residential construction industry.
- 1–3 years of home warranty or related experience is an asset but not required.
- Canadian Home Inspector certificate from an accredited institution is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of residential construction procedures, methods, techniques, building codes, and provincial work‑safe requirements.
- Tech‑savvy with ability to learn inspection software and use Microsoft Office products.
- Valid driver’s licence in good standing (mandatory).
- Post‑secondary education in Construction Management or Construction Science is an asset.
- Red Seal Carpenter or Journeyperson trade certificate is an asset.
Position requires travel within the regional area and occasional travel outside the region; a company vehicle will be provided.
Compensation & BenefitsSalary range: $57,000–$62,000 (commensurate with skills, experience, and location).
