Arts Umbrella is a non-profit organization that provides arts education for young people ages 2–22 in Art, Design, Dance, Theatre, Music, and Film. We serve nearly 20,000 young people each year across Metro Vancouver and value self-expression, creativity, and inclusion.

In this role
  • Support program instructors by preparing supplies and classrooms in advance, and work alongside them to ensure students are safe, supported, and engaged at all times while at Arts Umbrella.
  • Collaborate with the team to bring Arts Umbrella’s vision to life while fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful learning environment.
  • Communicate effectively and compassionately with students, parents, and community partners, ensuring that all participants feel valued and supported.
  • Ensure all safety and cleaning protocols are met, and maintain the classroom setup before and after each class.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity and awareness when working with vulnerable or at-risk communities, adapting teaching and engagement approaches to meet diverse needs.
  • Act as a positive role model by promoting equity, inclusion, and cultural awareness in every interaction.
What you bring
  • Knowledge of your artistic practice combined with a proven ability to inspire creativity in children and youth.
  • Strong understanding of Arts Umbrella’s vision and mission, and ability to demonstrate the Standards for Instruction in your current practice.
  • Previous experience working with children and youth in educational, community, or arts-based settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and support vulnerable and at-risk communities with sensitivity, empathy, and cultural awareness.
