Elementary School Teacher grade

Khalsa School Newton is a faith‑based elementary school in Surrey, BC. We are hiring homeroom teachers for Grades 1, 2 and 3 for the 2026‑2027 school year, beginning 1 September 2026. The school is IB MYP authorized and offers support, a dedicated classroom, training to become an IB certified teacher, and a collaborative community.

• Grade 1 Homeroom Teacher – Start: 1 September 2026. Salary: $6600 per month (10‑month fixed‑length contract). IB training will be provided.
• Grade 2 Homeroom Teacher – Start: 1 September 2026. Salary: $6600 per month (10‑month fixed‑length contract). IB training will be provided.
• Grade 3 Homeroom Teacher – Start: 1 September 2026. Salary: $6600 per month (10‑month fixed‑length contract). IB training will be provided.

• Valid teaching certification in BC (certificates from other Canadian provinces accepted if BC certification application has been completed).
• Eligibility to work in Canada; preference for applicants with BC teaching credentials.
• Preferred:
  Teaching experience in Canada.
• Full‑time availability.
• Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum, instructional methods, materials, and equipment for the required specialty.
• Ability to plan and implement lessons that align with division and school objectives and meet the needs and abilities of students.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, and parents.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Eligibility to work in Canada (required).
• French language not required.

• In‑person teaching in Surrey, BC (must be able to reliably commute or plan to relocate before start).

The school incorporates Sikh faith education throughout the curriculum; however, homeroom teachers will primarily teach the BC English curriculum. Religious department staff will deliver the Sikh Faith subjects.

• Bachelor’s degree (required).
• Master’s degree (preferred).
