Overview  World Vision Academy, a reputable education centre in Surrey, is recruiting qualified tutors and certified teachers who are familiar with the BC High School English Curriculum and experienced in teaching English/SAT/ELL. In particular, we are seeking instructors capable of guiding secondary students taking online credit courses during the summer break, with a strong preference for those with experience teaching Composition 10 and New Media.

Teachers will be required to work through the summer break. Experience teaching groups of students is an asset. Current or substitute teachers in BC public or private schools will be highly considered. If you are selected, your compensation will be discussed. You will earn a competitive hourly rate based on your qualifications and experience.
Responsibilities   Provide targeted instruction and support for students taking summer credit courses (specifically Composition 10 and New Media).
Create effective lesson plans and closely follow the BC curriculum guidelines for ELL.
Prepare, evaluate, and assess all students' examinations, tests, quizzes, and written assignments.
Working hours are adaptable between 10 AM and 3 PM, Monday to Friday.
Assess student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly to ensure course completion.
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
Utilize tutoring and mentoring techniques to assist students with learning challenges.
Requirements   Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
Teaching certification or license (BC Certified Teachers/Substitute Teachers highly preferred).
Proven experience or strong familiarity with BC Secondary English courses, especially Composition 10 and New Media.
Robust organizational skills to manage classroom or online-guided activities effectively.
Proficiency in proofreading and writing skills for grading academic assignments.
Excellent communication skills to interact with students, parents, and staff.
Experience or willingness to work with special education students.
